The rules for using PingMe!

In plain terms. PingMe! gives you a link. Anyone who opens it can send you a push notification. It is free, provided as-is, and you are responsible for who you give your link to and for what you use it for.

Using a ping link to harass, flood or intimidate somebody is not allowed and will get the link and the account behind it shut down.

1. Who these terms are between

These terms are an agreement between you and Dataflair Ltda, a company registered in Brazil and based in Pelotas, RS, Brazil ("we", "us"), the operator of PingMe!. By creating a link, opening a ping link, or signing in, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we hold and forms part of these terms.

2. What the service does

You create a link. When someone opens that link and pings it, we send a push notification to the browser or device that created the link. You may optionally sign in with Google to manage your links across devices from a dashboard. A link can also be triggered by automation, by adding ?auto to its URL.

The service is free. We do not charge for it and we make no commercial commitment about it.

3. You must be old enough

You may only use PingMe! if you are at least 16 years old. This is the same age stated in our Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use PingMe! to:

Harass, alarm, threaten or intimidate anyone. This is the obvious way to misuse a notification service, so it is spelled out: do not ping somebody repeatedly to annoy them, do not send notifications designed to frighten, insult or shame the recipient, and do not use ping messages to abuse whoever is on the other end.
Publish or share someone else's ping link in order to get them pinged — for example posting a link somewhere public, embedding it in a page, or attaching it to a QR code, so that strangers or a crowd notify the owner. The person who created a link decides where it goes.
Automate unwanted pings. Auto-ping and scripted pings exist for your own monitors, cron jobs and workflows. Pointing them at a link whose owner has not asked for it, or using them to work around a limit, is not allowed.
Send unlawful, defamatory, obscene, hateful or infringing content in a ping message, or content that impersonates somebody else. Ping messages appear on someone's lock screen.
Guess, enumerate or brute-force link ids, or attempt to reach links that were not shared with you.
Attack, probe or overload the service or its infrastructure, evade rate limits or the per-device link cap, or attempt to use push endpoints to make our servers reach systems they should not.
Use the service to build a competing dataset, scrape it, or resell access to it.
Break any law that applies to you while using it.

If a link of yours is being abused, you can stop it yourself. You do not need an account and you do not need us. From the browser that created the link, pause it to stop pings immediately (reversible), or archive it to kill it for good — an archived link's page returns "not found", so the URL stops working entirely. Your ping history is deliberately kept when you archive, so you still have a record of what happened. To report abuse to us, write to [email protected].

5. Your link, your responsibility

A link id is 12 random characters. It is unguessable in practice, but it is not a secret we can protect for you: anyone who has the URL can ping you, and anyone you send it to can pass it on. Treat sharing a link as publishing it.

You are responsible for the labels you give your links and for the content of the messages you send. Do not put personal information in a link label.

6. Service limits

These are enforced automatically. They exist to keep the service usable and to blunt abuse, and we may change them without notice.

Auto-ping (?auto) is deliberately ignored for requests that look like a link preview, a prefetch, a crawler or an embedded image, because those are not someone deciding to ping you. Such a request gets the normal ping page instead.

PingMe! is not storage. Ping history expires on the schedule above and is not backed up for you. If you need a record of something, keep your own copy.

7. No guarantee of delivery — do not use this for emergencies

Notifications may be delayed, duplicated or never arrive. Delivery depends on your browser vendor's push service, your device, your network, your battery settings and your operating system's notification handling — none of which we control. A notification that cannot be delivered is discarded after about 24 hours, and a subscription can expire without warning (for instance when browser data is cleared). Do not rely on PingMe! for medical, safety, security or any other emergency or time-critical purpose.

8. Availability, changes and termination

We may change, suspend or discontinue the service, or any part of it, at any time and without notice. There is no uptime commitment.
We may remove links, disable push subscriptions, or suspend or delete accounts that we reasonably believe breach these terms — including links used for harassment — with or without notice.
You may stop using the service at any time. You can archive your links, revoke notification permission in your browser, or, if you have an account, delete it from your dashboard.
Deleting your account is immediate and irreversible. It removes your account, every registered device, every link and all ping history. We cannot restore any of it.
If the service is discontinued, we may delete all data associated with it.

9. Your content

You keep whatever rights you have in the text you enter — link labels and ping messages. You give us permission to store that text and transmit it to the intended recipient's device, which is the only thing we do with it. You confirm you have the right to send what you send.

10. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, or that any notification will be delivered.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any loss of data, profits, or opportunity, arising out of your use of (or inability to use) PingMe! — including any notification that was delayed, missed, duplicated or never sent.

What we do not exclude. Nothing above limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

If you are a consumer, you keep every right your own law gives you. Nothing in these terms takes away the mandatory protections of consumer law in the EU or the UK, or of the Brazilian Código de Defesa do Consumidor, and where any clause here conflicts with those protections, they win.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version always lives at this address, with the date at the top. Continuing to use PingMe! after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and disputes are subject to the courts of the Comarca de Pelotas, RS.

If you are a consumer, this does not strip you of anything. The mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in still apply, and you keep the right to bring a claim in your local courts where your law gives you that right.
